WHAT TO KNOW

TELL ME SOME MORE

Floating in a tank creates the perfect conditions for removing all external stimuli.  Your vision is restricted in the pitch black, you can hear nothing but your own body. You are completely buoyant in the Epsom salt water, which leads to a feeling of zero gravity with no real concept of  time or space. The water and air are heated to body temperature so you are unsure where your body ends and the water begins.

The science of sensory deprivation is known as Restricted Environmental Stimulation Therapy (REST). REST in a float tank has shown a transition from alpha or beta brainwaves to theta, which would ordinarily only occur before sleep and waking. In a flotation tank, theta brain waves occur whilst the user is fully conscious which allows for great creativity and problem-solving.

Floatation is not recommended if you experience claustrophobia or have epilepsy, kidney disease, low blood pressure, diarrhoea or gastroenteritis, open wounds or skin ulcer

WHAT TO BRING

The only thing you will need to bring is a towel. Other than that, bring your beautiful self and we will provide everything else down to our sweet smelling premium Leif shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, hair straightener, moisturisers and more.

Since it is a private experience, most people don’t wear any clothing. You’ll have the room to yourself and be required to shower before and after.  Anything you wear will press against your body, becoming a distraction.

We strongly recommend using your complimentary ear plugs during at least your first visit. Although rare, the salinity of the water can cause moisture to get stuck in some ear canals resulting in an uncomfortable feeling days later. This possibility is completely avoided by using the earplugs.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Our floats last 60 minutes and are equipped with several features to maintain hygiene of the water including a 10 micron filter bag, and a UV light array, which take care of any micro-organisms that survive the extreme salt content. Between every client the float  is filtered 3 times.

You are 100% in control of the pod lid. Whilst we recommend you close the lid to enjoy the full experience, you may leave the lid open. There is also a light switch inside the tank .

Floating with fake tan is fine, as long as it has not been applied in the last 72 hours or still runs in the shower or on towels. Similarly if your hair dye does not wash out on towels or in the shower, you’re ready to float! We also suggest 4-6 weeks after you get a tattoo before floating.

It is perfectly safe to sleep in our tank and it’s so relaxing it’s sometimes hard not to! The water contains so much Epsom Salts that you will literally float on the water while you sleep, so you don’t need to worry about drowning.
